A Juried Fiber Art Exhibit, August 3-25 at the Northville Art House
I am proud to have two of my stitched pieces on exhibit.
I recently dropped off my artwork and was greeted by a riot of color…
a YarnBombing at the Arthouse…
The teamwork and WORK involved make for a grand entrance! Hope you get to see both the bombing and the show.
On Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the opening of Voices, a fiber art exhibit showcasing nine talented Michigan artists at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. The show was a perfect representation of just how diversified in approach and delivery fiber art quilts can be. A true and honest medium for personal expression. The artist’s showcased are professionals who have been practicing at this medium long enough to have found their own unique Voice.
Visit the website, Voices, for complete info on location date and times, artist information and a gallery. Below I’m sharing some of the photos I snapped , just as teasers:
The website is beautifully done, please visit for more information on individual pieces and artists. I have several friends among the nine featured….Kathie Briggs, Lynn Krawczyk, Joan Potter Thomas, and Anne Heimstra. I congratulate them for their practiced VOICE, finely articulated thoughts, and focused work required to deliver these beautiful artworks for all of us to enjoy.
…is at her full, and riding high…..
Two weekends ago, I had the pleasure of helping Kat and Julie hang the awesome artwork made for the earth exhibit. This show promises to be a good one, and includes paintings, sculpture, fiber and mixed media. If you can, come out Friday evening for the opening reception.
For a preview of the show, visit Kat’s January 2nd blog entry, here. See you Friday!
I haven’t anything “way back” today. Will make scanning my mission for a day, and see ya next week with a new wayyabackwhensday.
But in the meantime,
Jeff was driving near Chesaning and snapped this photo…that’s alot of plows. This was someone’s front yard, not a plow dealers lot. I guess I’m lucky I collect fabric, that stacks neatly on a shelf.
by Kelly Corrigan. These words speak of the strength, support and friendship between women. They are beautiful, and full of truth. You may need kleenex, I did. …but you will laugh too.
Mom, Mominlaw, Daughters, Daughterinlaw, Sisters (you know who you are!) and Friends….I treasure you!
I want to share the talents of my daughter’s friend, Alison. Her day job is a photographer at a portrait studio specializing in babies and children. Besides having the patience of a saint to be able to get happy portraits of babies, she has the eye of an artist. Alison takes breathtaking photos as a sideline. Last summer, she travelled around Europe, and took beautiful photos with a unique point of view while on her trip. And she has some great Michigan shots too, one I especially like is an urban graffiti image . Her nature shots are clear and striking. Alison has opened an Etsy shop: MadnotCrazy. Leave her a comment, she will be so pleased!
