Hello, 2017

Hi friends and family:  I’m here and wishing you a happy New Year from the Kolar house.  I wanted to skim over 2016, and make a fresh start,  since I’ve been a terrible blogger for a very long time.

One photo for each month…

January, this might be my favorite selfie ever.  Solid as a rock.

February, my art projects often had a different focus:

March, enjoyed a vacation with my honey.

May:  I lost my dad, he suffered a long debilitating decline.   Of course, we miss our strong, loving man…but with each day, week and month we watched his body crumple and fail. 20160513_140048

June:  These daughters of mine took me to New York City for my birthday!

July:  There is so much about summer to enjoy.

August:  Crazy, great time at our annual Kolar gathering at the cabin.

September:  Always, always, trying to find the time to mosaic, paint and stitch.

October:  A trip to Mackinaw Island to celebrate 40 years of us together!

November:  My Little Peoples, have I mentioned what a big joyful part they have in my life?

December:  It is the most wonderful time of the year!

2017 promises to be a year of changes.  Jeff is retiring from his job of 30 years.  But no sitting in a recliner for him…he has plans.  But we both hope to have a little more time to enjoy each other, our families and go on a few adventures together.  I look forward to this new chapter in our life!

Joy of Moving

A video of a “little” who is discovering the fun of movement:

I’m so glad that my word of the year, MOVE, resonated with a few of you!

Moving, getting outside, is quite hard this time of year here in the Mitten.  I was driving home today, it was quite lovely out, with just a dusting of snow and a bit of sunshine.  I thought a walk was in order, but as I walked from the car to the house my mind changed itself.

The elliptical machine is where I get my steps in these days.  Reading (a little challenging) or listening to a book, or doing a Sudoku puzzle (writing while bouncing up and down is a little challenging too)  is how I distract my mind while in the basement stepping my fake walk about.  I’ve also gone to the mall to step, but I am easily distracted there.  Also, I found I must sprint inside without a coat, or drip sweat by the end of circuit.  It pays to leave your wallet home, too.

I’ve used my phone as a pedometer for a long time.  But I’ve found out that it was not so accurate, it was UNDERSTATING my steps.  Well, maybe my new Fit-bit isn’t accurate, but I like its numbers much more.

You guard against decay, in general, and stagnation, by moving, by continuing to move. (Mary Daly)

What are you doing to MOVE in 2015?

Who:  I spent most of the day by myself, later I went to my parents and completed some chores for them.

What:  I worked on a large spreadsheet today, at least I was making something!

Where:  My mother and I went to our local hardware store.  She said the outside of her condo was so “blah”, wanted to make it more festive.  We did:

When:  When am I going to add some ornaments to our Christmas tree?  I  like it with the colorful lights, maybe it will stay that way.

Why:  Hmmm….answering that would make my brain hurt.
