The artist… tells his audience, at the risk of their displeasure, the secrets of their own hearts. (R. G. Collingwood)
Showing your work to friends and family is one thing, but the experience of hanging something in an art gallery and have total strangers view it is something different. Its nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time. Jeff and I had that experience last evening.
When an audience does not complain, it is a compliment, and when it does, it is a compliment, too, if unaccompanied by violence. (Mark Twain)
Luckily no one got violent. Actually, no one complained either. Not even our friend Mike, when I spilled red wine all over his coat!
All in all, we had a wonderful evening, lots of cool art to view and enjoy. And a great crowd of people wandering through. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall….., but what I did hear about my pieces is still making me smile. Jeff feels the same way too.
It’s good that people see it. It’s even better when they love it. And it’s wonderful if they buy it. (Bela Fidel)
With the art, conversation and wine flowing freely….I forgot to take photos until after most everyone left. But I did grab Joan and Donna for a pose in front of their work…..
and yours truly…..
Have a good Saturday.
