The time between

IMG_5184

Our street is dreary already, after Christmas and before the New Year.  Why are people taking down their lights so early?   I look at the lights as a replacement for summer annuals.  Why pull them when winter has barely started.   How about celebrating Valentine’s Day as enthusiastically as Halloween….red, pink and white lights!

Anyways, I found a beautiful prayer, bringing purpose and hope to a New Year.  And helping me realize I don’t need Christmas lights to fill the empty spaces.  I find peace in accepting that I did not carry out all I wanted to this year, that me and my actions are not perfect….but knowing that all I need to do is keep moving forward, the possibilities are infinite because I am not the one in charge….what a relief!

Peace Within

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you
May you be confident knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
– attributed to St. Thérèse of Lisieux and St. Theresa of Avila

  1. Christmas lights are meant to stay up at least through the middle of January. I remember once (when I was working) that we decorated our department with lights and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. It was so festive and the patients loved it. so in January we took down the regular lights, put up red ones and hung bright red hearts among the snowflakes and left it all through Valentine’s day.
