Autumn Up North

We had a glorious weekend in the U.P., a couple weeks ago.  Sunshine, fair weather, and beautiful color.   So glad summer goes out with a colorful grande finale!

We made several trips to the Bersaw because the salmon were spawning,  I had never witnessed the spawn.  Its amazing, the fish working hard to swim upstream.  They are starting to look rather “bedraggled”, but are determined to complete their last task.

They gathered in groups, but were hard to photograph in the dark woods and root beer water.  Many were near the beaver dam, as they couldn’t get any further up stream.

“Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.”

William Cullen Bryant
