Potent Quotable, 12-18-11

At this time of December, can’t you sometimes help but think:

 What am I doing!!!!!

Some quotes to help us through:

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall.  We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.  ~Dave Barry

Can I connect the true meaning of Christmas and this modern day craziness:

The "first Christmas" was a simple time of beauty and wonder. The birth of Christ was less about celebration than it was about family. Though many today may grow tired of the commercialization of Christmas, in reality it has opened the door for Christ to once again become the focal point of the season, and for family, especially children, to be at the heart of the celebration.   ACE COLLINS, Stories Behind Great Traditions of Christmas

I’m all for starting this new tradition:

…sit with husband in a room lit only by tree lights and remember that our blessings outnumber the lights.  Happy Christmas to all.  ~Betsy Cañas Garmon

At Christmas play and make good cheer,
For Christmas comes but once a year.

My agenda this week:

Work at Art Is In Market (getting all my hours in this week)  with a big smile and helpful attitude.

Arrive early for a choice parking spot

Lunch with friends and family as much as possible (call me if you have some time)

Wrap presents….not a one is wrapped yet…

Count my blessings!

  1. Love the house,
Love this quote “…sit with husband in a room lit only by tree lights and remember that our blessings outnumber the lights. Happy Christmas to all. ~Betsy Cañas Garmon,
    and LOVE you!!
    Ditto what Laurie said.
I hope to be your lunchdate this week!

  2. I love the idea of sitting in the dark with only the tree lights on. And we truly do have much to be thankful for.
(And, on a personal note, I’ve missed your blob through this last week).

  3. I remember the extreme joy of having a dozen different candies to decorate my ginger house. All those colors fascinated me. Our tradition was to sleep under the Christmas tree the first night.
