Snow Dyeing, #65

Over the weekend, our first fun was dyeing fabric using snow…..

We prepared fabric by folding and knotting it tie-dye style.  Next, we stuffed it into a zip lock bag, then packed snow on top of the fabric in the bag:

On top of the snow, we poured prepared dye solutions into the bag(used 3 colors…magenta, turquoise, and yellow):

We let it sit overnight…..

And this is the result:

As the snow melts, the dyes creep into the fibers….I think the snow helps keep the colors separate and clear.

Thanks to Kat for the process photos, and see her blog for specific instructions on snow-dyeing.

But hurry…..the snow is disappearing fast.
