I’ve been watching the tamarack bud out, and find it simply fascinating….I’d call this new growth the puppies and kittens of the plant world, just too darn cute and irresistible to touch.
Under the tamarack branch is a spring blooming groundcover, bergenia. Its leaves get a little bedraggled over the winter, but I like their rustic look.
And more puppies and kittens, the fuzzy new stems and bronze leaves of the rodgersia.
Back to the tamarack….I’ve photographed it every Sunday for weeks now. Here is my “time lapse” photo sequence, starting in early March:
