Why do I say that? Because in my world, a
good week rather-one of the ways that makes the week especially good, is when I have lots of studio time, time spent making things. Specifically. I do not count THINKING about making things. That is not the same. Often, something requires planning. I will count that. That might include, sketching the big picture, and writing out the ideas for the details, or audtioning colors and fabrics. But planning does not include SHOPPING. Definitely not. Nor does it include research, because I could look through books, the web and any other resource and spend the day’s time away.
So, please forgive my need to account again, but I just can’t stop myself. I’ve been keeping track of the time spent in the studio. The first week of January, I had just returned from a trip, so only devoted 2 hours. The next week, 15! Getting into the swing of things. And then last week, 16 hours. I hope to continue in that upward direction.
So what did I do….
I finished this quilt as a gift for my friend’s expecting DIL:
And a matching pillow:
And included this sweet storybook, The Quiltmaker’s Gift, the illustrations are so beautifully detailed and rendered, worthwhile to seek out.
