Fabric Color Wheel

I don’t believe I’ve ever shared this color wheel that I made a couple of years ago. I was reading and doing some of the exercises in Katie Pasquini Masopust’s book “Color and Composition for the Creative Quilter”. There are many good exercises to help learn visual language in this book, and exercises in understanding color. The color wheel was one of the exercises. This color wheel is made entirely out of fabric, from my stash. It has been a valuable resource, something I keep hanging in my studio…referring to it constantly. I say this because, while reorganizing my space, I took it off the wall and stuffed it somewhere. I’ve finally had enough of missing it terribly and am going to hang it back up. And I have to add that the making of this color wheel was the best learning experience, really makes you look at and understand color.
Notice also the black to white gradations, one in solids, one in prints on either side. This little project sure opened my eyes about color.
