Have you ever noticed how one new shiny thing seems to make make all things around it shabby looking. No matter how happy you were with the old, the new brings it to a new light. Here is my example…my soninlaw, Derek, made me a beautiful table…so beautiful I would be happy with it as a dining room table in the house. Its painted wood, with routered edges, and detailed legs. On a prettier day, I will take a picture of it. This table is for our backyard deck, he also made benches….its a very elegant picnic table. Anyway, when placing it on the deck, it looked beautiful, BUT everything else didn’t. The deck furniture looked chipped, gray, old. But the worse thing is the deck itself. It is in a sorry state, so neglected. Yes, add that one to the list of chores. I definitely have not paid attention to where I’m standing when on the deck until now:
Thanks Derek for the awesome table. Thanks to all my kids for making me a happy mom today. And lastly, thank you all for your concern and prayers for Bibbs!
Where I Stand Sunday is an ongoing photo essay examining the different places I spend my life standing. Too often we take for granted the everyday places we spend our lives walking on. The ground we tread on has its own stories to tell. Join Lynn Krawczyk of Fibra artysta and I in celebrating each Sunday in this way. Let Lynn know, so she can link to your site on her blog.
