Felting a scarf

img_1953a.jpg

Got together with a Gail, Kat and Nan today to play at felting.  We used some kits that were on sale at our local yarn shop.   Really was a cool process, first laying out the wool on a dissolving stabilizer, then rolling it in plastic and putting it in the dryer….half hour later, the piece is felted.  Lastly, we immersed the rolled wad into boiling water, and voila, the stabilizer disappeared and left the felt.  I have never seen this stabilizer for sale, it doesn’t dissolve in the heat of the dryer, but only after immersion in boiling water.  Does anyone know about this stuff?  The pieces turned out great.

  1. These are awesome! I’ve seen these in stores but was never really sure what to make of them. The colors are stunning and it looks like a lot of fun! What yarn shop did you get them at?
