December 22….
Posted: December 22, 2010 Filed under: Happy things 5 Comments »Hello friends. Things have been a little topsyturvy around here, so sorry for being MIA for so long.
Mom K will go into assisted living in the next day or so. Its a source of nervous anticipation for her. She is weak, and struggles for breath…I think she will be much more comfortable in her own room and I know we will be much more comfortable while we spend this Christmas with her there.
It will be a low key Christmas for us. Lots of family gathering close together, enjoying the time we have with Mom, Grandmom. Bittersweet. But I’m concentrating on the SWEET!
How’s that song go…????
…..I simply remember my favorites things, and then I don’t feel so bad!
Yes, THINGS…..this is the season for THINGS! Can’t really get away from it.
So, I thought I’d show you a couple of the things I purchased for myself (while shopping for others, presumably)….handmade, locally, of course!
This is a beaded wine bottle stopper….it is just a party, and was something that I really had to have. It will be used daily. Makes that glass of wine all the merrier.
And some warm woolly mittens for the cold, snowy MITTEN state. The bracelet of vintage buttons on the hand applique closed this sale for me. These are made out of a fiber that is near and dear to my heart…..recycled sweaters with a fleece lining.
Nothing like a little Retail Therapy to bring on a little cheer.
Wishing you time to enjoy the holidays your way….however that may be!

Summer Holiday

I hope all of you, my friends, enjoy your weekend…..
Sure sign of spring….
Posted: March 16, 2010 Filed under: Happy things, Home and family 11 Comments »Wow, what a gorgeous day. I personally don’t roller blade. But I did take a good long walk today, dug out the gardening tools, and started the spring cleanup. Then before dinner, Jeff and I had a sit, with a glass of wine, on the front porch….first of 2010. Life is good.
Something caught my eye…
Posted: March 10, 2010 Filed under: Garden, Happy things 10 Comments »…..as I walked out the door.
The first harbinger of spring got my attention right away…..
And motivated the first walkabout of the year…..
The mums have peeked out of the ground.
The “corylus contorta”….corkscrew mulberry, has the tiniest little red buds on it.
Spring is definitely on its way!
Unfortunately, this is what the crown of the hellebore’s look like right now:
Below is one of those “what is this” photos….guess?????
Hoping you can find some sunshine and color today too.
Happy Things
Posted: February 2, 2010 Filed under: Happy things 2 Comments »Lynn, of FibraArtysta, and the sweet bird nest necklace I showed you the other day, has started something lovely this year….a new photo essay blog called 365 Happy Things Project. I have subscribed to it, and everyday I start my day with one of her photos…they make me smile.
Don’t you all think that finding “happy things” is really another way to express the gratitude that lives within. The gratitude for the people, places, things in our life….those little sight, sounds, touches, that bring warmth, joy, fun into our lives.
To that end, I have decided to copy Lynn’s concept….hope you don’t mind, Lynn….and mark some of the happy things in my life every once in a while. And here is my first:
The musician IZ, and his ukulele combine to make a beautiful noise. If you’re familiar with IZ,you’ve heard this song:
Try some of his other music…Beautiful! Where have I been, he passed away in 1997. His music lives on. I am in love.
