A friend, Carolynne, who makes beautiful dolls….asked me to make some pins for her.  I had so much fun making the flowers to surround her needle-sculpted faces…81-90 Spring can’t be far away.

I kind of like that idea….just a little.

Time for a Grandma post…..

We had fun on Sunday….Mr C and his parents came over….the bean bag became his personal spaceship.

IMG_0751 here he is yelling in his own little way, but very clearly…the words of Buzz Lightyear……

“To Infinity and Beyond!!!!!

He has a silly grin always ready for the camera….I think part squint to protect his eyes from the flash….

Have a great day….

Clean out week….

Those 3 Salmon patties nobody wanted, 1/3 bag of frozen french fries, freezer burnt periogi, a can of fruit cocktail, a bag of frozen crystallized broccoli, two boxes of rice a roni, the dregs of the applesauce jar—all gone.   Some eaten up, some too far gone to be consumed.

It took a group of 11 of us to complete this weeks goal of clearing out the freezers, pantry and refrigerator.

The family came over tonight for this meal:

Beef tenderloin*

Shrimp Cocktail*

Mushrooms and Onions

Baked Potatoes

Dill Pickles*

Squash*

Rolls*

Salad

Cherry Pie a la mode

****Starred items were hangers on from the past ???year???, the holiday celebrations, and from d’mama’s  pantry, too.   The beef was really, really good, despite the date on the label.  I know you are thinking, how could she have let that meat stay in the freezer for so long.   It needed a special occasion and a crowd that never transpired, until today.  I used Pioneer Woman’s recipe for Roasted Tenderloin.    Melt in your  mouth!

We had fun evening.  Seems one of the favorite things to do in our house after a family dinner is watch youtube videos on the tv.  Tonight’s entertainment was 4 wheel drive jeeps and such rolling down mountains, or flipping over, or some similar thing.  Everybody laughs, but mostly we enjoyed Colton’s reaction.

No photos taken tonight….

Christmas 009 But this could have been taken today, or any other day he’s over.  He sure does love his  books!  And I like reading to him, maybe just a little bit.

303, 304

Mr C was here for a visit today, and he and I had a little Christmas project to do together:

IMG_8751 What fun we had….he was an eager participant in decorating this gingerbread man.  This was a little prebaked, ready to decorate guy from Trader Joe’s.  Just right for an almost 2 year olds attention span.

IMG_8754

Gingerbread man was a little tough, but that didn’t seem to matter much…

IMG_8756

Seems I’m way behind in the counting up again….

But yes!  I got to stitch…….so very satisfying and just plain makes me happy!

Finished a baby quilt…..

And a new piece of table art….

 11-30a-10 001

I’m hoping to get serious about stitch in January…..the “festive flower brooch season” will be over, and grouting mosaics is difficult in the winter, so guess what’s left!

Happy Halloween

Halloween has always been a holiday filled with a flurry of activity on the day of….times have a changed though.  I am an observer these days, more than a participant.  We will pass out candy tonight, and enjoy seeing the youngest generation of neighbors.  But other than that its a laid back day….a beautiful one outdoors, I might add.

But last night, we were participants in the festivities.  We went with our son and his family to an indoor play gym…a halloween party.  Colton was the cutest Dracula I have ever seen….

I made him a couple Lynn’s skellies….they are so sweet, and he liked them, but you have to see Lynn’s photo of them, here!

Thanks TJ and Amber for getting us involved!  We had a great time…..and I hope you have a Happy Halloween too!

Autumn

I do love thee…..

10-19-10 006

And I have one more item to add to the autumn list of goodness:  Autumn Olive Wine.   Wine made from the fruit of the Russian Olive tree.  My BIL Jim brought us some,  his first excursion into wine making.  It was good…dry, not too sweet.  A novelty that was fun to try.

End of August

August has been the ultimate R & R month….a month that got me back on my feet, feeling more like myself….I can now say that I feel NORMAL….whatever that is!  First we went up north to the cottage, then up to Kat’s cottage, and now this last week has been party week!

We celebrated Colton’s UNbirthday on Saturday.  His real birthday is in December, but his parents are starting the tradition of having a party in his honor during the summer….  8-28-10 Colton's early birthday weekend 106

This was his favorite birthday present:

I will update August with more party pics over the next few days…..

And today we had a get together to meet our little Emily’s (my niece), big Marine beau, Ryan….

8-28-10 Colton's early birthday weekend 264 He has to be a great guy to be so comfortable with all of the Kolars so quickly…..

And all 5 Capri’s were together today…..Annie, who just happens to be Emily’s mom, was here for the day too.

It was so GOOD to see Annie again…..

So I hadn’t mentioned that Lisa is her for a visit?  Well, yes….until next weekend….we have many Capri things to do this week.  What a great way to finish up this month of rest and relaxation.

Next month its back to reality…..I’m ready!

The Doings, Week 3

1-21-10 003

(note the two Delicious Scarves that Kelly whipped up, she had wings on those needles this winter and made many scarves)

This week is a special one, with three of us Capri’s spending much time together.  We are dearly missing that Florida Capri gal, though.  Here are some of the highlights of our days

1.  We are spending a heck of alot of time doing what we do best…..shopping!

2.  It is evident I do not need much, a Life is Good sweatshirt, a fine mesh colander, and a pair of brown shoes are the extent of my purchases for myself

3.  But then there are the art supply bargains to be found….and I am like a little piglet when it comes to scooping this junk up, too much is never enough it seems!  This deserves a blob post of its own, at a later time.

4. Yesterday, Mr C Jr was here with his dad.  A good time was had by all,  that baby has the ability to brighten up any party!

1-21-10 018

He thought Aunt Lisa was alot of fun…

1-21-10 007

5.  Today we went to 212 Art Center, and took  in the Earth Exhibit.  Lisa and Kelly loved the show, and I so enjoyed hearing their opinions and comments.

1-2-10 006

But, anyways, I want to show you the pieces I finished this week….

Knitting was the only making I could fit in….

First, that no so great mobius scarf…..I felted it and am happier with it now:

Tottering

Mr.  C  Junior  took his first steps today…..

1-6-10 006

Maybe we should call them his first totters….teetering totters.

1-6-10 018My turn with the camera, please……let someone else be the victim of the paparazzi

1-6-10 015

Marlo always look worried when Colton is around.

1-6-10 017There she is….I’ll sneak up on her.
